Community
Alphabet succeeds by creating goodwill in the region’s public sector and security communities, principally by providing them with free access to specialist information. This goodwill opens doors for us in some of the highest offices in the land, in many different lands, and has led to the development of strong, meaningful contacts with senior public administrators throughout Asia Pacific, and beyond.
The Alphabet team has sustained many of these relationships for over ten years, and we are proud to call a large number of these individuals friends. We see ourselves as having a vested interest in their success, and that’s the primary driver of what we do when we’re not eating doughnuts.
We break bread with our community, stay up talking late in to the night with them, throw ideas on to whiteboards in their offices, discuss options during cigarette breaks, forward resumes to them, provide internship opportunities for their younger family members, leave tweets, comments and links on their online profiles, and receive tweets, comments and links from them in return.
Ultimately, pretty logos and a suitcase full of cash can only get you so far¹. The last mile for any successful media company is to be invited to take the step from third party platform to inside the 'circle of trust’. That’s what Alphabet has managed to achieve – and it is the achievement of which we’re most proud.
¹ We’re referring to our competitors. No suitcases full of cash at Alphabet, sadly.
